Many small businesses are actively selling their products over the Internet through online storefronts such as Amazon, Ebay, or Etsy. By selling through these sites, the business owner doesn’t have to dedicate the time, effort and funds to set up their own individual website. It also allows them to take advantage of the millions of built-in shoppers that frequent these sites.

This workshop will provide an overview of several different online storefronts, discussing the pros and cons associated with each. Participants will gain hands-on knowledge as to which online storefront may be appropriate for their particular business.

Presenter: Dr. Brian Whitacre is an assistant professor and extension economist in the agricultural economics department at Oklahoma State University. His research focuses on the role of Broadband Internet access in economic development. Dr. Whitacre has an active e-commerce program that helps rural businesses understand the importance of the Internet and discover ways they can take advantage of it.

Partners: University Center of Southern Oklahoma, Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, OkSBDC, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, Ardmore Main Street, Murray State College, and REI Women’s Business Center
